Lakiya Negev Weaving intends to bring about social change by building a foundation for local economic development. As a vehicle of empowerment it channels traditional skills into a profitable cottage industry for long term sustainability restoring women’s contribution to their family’s earning power. While educating participants with the tools of earning an income in modern society, the project at the same time revitalizes and preserves a craft which is central to Bedouin heritage.

Lakiya Negev Weaving is operated by Sidreh.

Sidreh is a grassroot non-profit Bedouin women's organization, established in 1998 in order to improve and strengthen the status of Arab Bedouin women in the Negev through personal social and economic empowerment programs. Sidreh is based in the Bedouin village of Lakiya and works with women throughout the Negev.
